Fire Extinguisher Services (Portable, Wheeled and Fixed)
Dolphin Marine provides inspection, maintenance, testing, and refilling services for portable and wheeled marine fire extinguishers, including dry powder, water, foam, and CO₂ types. Our technicians inspect the cylinder body, operating handle, valve, hose, nozzle, pressure indicator, and safety seal; verify the extinguishing-agent quantity and cylinder pressure; and replace worn or expired components as required. Hydrostatic Pressure Testing
Hydrostatic pressure testing verifies the structural integrity of pressurised fire-fighting and breathing-air cylinders. Testing is carried out at the intervals specified by the cylinder manufacturer and applicable SOLAS, Flag State, Classification Society, and recognised pressure-vessel requirements. The required interval varies according to the cylinder type, construction material, approval standard, and service history.
Dolphin Marine performs hydrostatic testing, inspection, drying, reassembly, and refilling at its approved service facilities using calibrated testing equipment. We also provide onboard and quayside testing of SCBA and refillable EEBD cylinders using portable hydrostatic testing and air-compression equipment, reducing the need to transport cylinders to an external facility and helping minimise vessel downtime.

Compressed Air Breathing Equipment Services & Supply
Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) provides breathable air for trained personnel carrying out fire-fighting, rescue, or emergency operations in smoke-filled, toxic, or oxygen-deficient environments. Emergency Escape Breathing Devices (EEBD), however, are intended only for emergency escape and must not be used for fire-fighting or entering hazardous spaces. Applicable requirements are contained in SOLAS Chapter II-2 and Chapter 3 of the International Code for Fire Safety Systems (FSS Code).
Dolphin Marine inspects, tests, maintains, and refills SCBA sets and refillable EEBD units in accordance with manufacturer instructions and applicable marine safety requirements. Our services include demand-valve and alarm testing, face-mask inspection and leak testing, pressure-gauge verification, cylinder inspection, hydrostatic testing, and charging-pressure verification. We also inspect breathing-air compressors and analyse compressed breathing air against the applicable EN 12021 requirements. Fixed Fire-Extinguishing, Detection & Galley Protection Systems
Fixed fire-extinguishing and detection systems are critical to protecting machinery spaces, cargo areas, accommodation spaces, and galleys aboard commercial vessels. Dolphin Marine provides inspection, testing, maintenance, and certification services in accordance with applicable SOLAS Chapter II-2 requirements, the FSS Code, relevant IMO guidance—including MSC.1/Circ.1318 for fixed CO₂ systems—and manufacturer procedures.

Flexible Non-Metallic CO₂ Hose Assembly Services
Dolphin Marine is an approved manufacturer of flexible non-metallic hose assemblies, with certification from DNV and RINA. We manufacture, supply, pressure-test, and install main and pilot hoses for fixed CO₂ fire-extinguishing systems in accordance with approved specifications and applicable requirements.
Under IMO Circular MSC.1/Circ.1318/Rev.1, flexible hoses used in fixed CO₂ systems must be inspected and replaced at the intervals recommended by the manufacturer, which should not exceed ten years. Medical Equipment Services
Dolphin Marine provides inspection, maintenance, testing, refilling, and supply services for onboard medical oxygen equipment, including oxygen resuscitation apparatus and medical oxygen cylinders. The required medical equipment depends on the vessel type, number of persons aboard, voyage duration, Flag State requirements, and the applicable shipboard medical scale.
Our technicians inspect the resuscitation unit, face mask, regulator, demand valve, hoses, connections, pressure gauge, and cylinder condition. Cylinder pressure and expiry dates are verified, and cylinders are recharged, hydrostatically tested, or exchanged when required, using suitable oxygen-service procedures and equipment.

How often must marine fire extinguishers be inspected?
Under SOLAS Chapter II-2 and IMO Circular MSC.1/Circ.1432, portable fire extinguishers must be inspected annually. What is hydrostatic pressure testing for fire extinguisher cylinders?
Hydrostatic pressure testing involves filling a fire extinguisher cylinder with water and subjecting it to a controlled pressure – typically 1.5 to 2 times the working pressure – to verify the structural integrity of the cylinder body. The test confirms the cylinder has no cracks, corrosion, or wall thinning that could cause failure under pressure. A test certificate is issued upon successful completion. Dolphin Marine performs hydrostatic testing at its certified service stations and carries pre-tested exchange cylinders for immediate swap.
What is the difference between SCBA and EEBD?
SCBA (Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus) is a full face-mask unit with an independent air supply used by fire-fighting crews entering smoke-filled spaces. It provides protection for 15–30 minutes depending on the cylinder capacity. EEBD (Emergency Escape Breathing Device) is a compact hood-type unit designed only for emergency escape – providing 10–15 minutes of breathable air to allow crew to evacuate a hazardous area. SOLAS Chapter II-2 Regulation 13 specifies the minimum number of each type required aboard different vessel categories.

Yes. Dolphin Marine’s fixed systems team carries out annual inspection of fixed CO₂ flooding systems aboard vessels at the quayside. This includes cylinder weighing, release system function test, control panel and alarm check, and pipe and nozzle inspection. Cylinders requiring recharge are exchanged from our pre-charged stock to minimise vessel downtime. We also hold rental cylinder racks at our Egypt, UAE, and KSA branches.
